Many people wishing to start a blog get “put off” by the amount of information on the internet that applies mainly to people wishing to blog for monetary reasons rather than for simply blogging for the love of writing and sharing their life and passions.
This is unfortunate for blogging generally because the initial idea of blogging is writing regularly about something that you are passionate about or as a record of your daily activities for those you love and want to keep a record of your daily life for.
Back in the ‘olden days’ my Mother kept a diary and she wrote in it every day of her life bar the last three months of her life when the cancer got too bad for her to do so any more. Since her death, I have enjoyed reading of her daily life and thoughts of her family and world events as she saw them.
She was a remarkable woman in so many ways and it’s interesting to know that so much of what she thought would happen as events occurred around the world have actually come true. She was a perceptive and caring Australian with a strong perception of what it meant to be a Mother and a community oriented person. But if she hadn’t kept a diary and wrote so succinctly and thoughtfully, I may have known this but her Grand kids wouldn’t have known the strong woman who was their beloved Nana.
She had a wonderful sense of humour and to see some of her comments in writing with her ‘little asides’ made me laugh all over again because I could visualise her face as if she was saying it and these made me laugh again.
The grand kids knew her as a kind, loving and spoiling Grandmother who loved to cook and lived on a farm with the sheep, cows, dogs and chooks (chickens). This was special indeed for youngsters, but as they have now grown up, they really appreciate her dedication to her family, the Australian bush and the community she was a part of. But because she has passed on, the only way they can know her as a person, is through her writing in her diaries.
Blogs don’t have to be about anything in particular but can be about everything in general.
A blog can be about whatever is important to you. If you don’t want to make the blog readable by everybody, then keep it private. Because you elect to keep it private under a password protected ‘lock’ means you and you alone will be able to access it from anywhere in the world that has an internet connection.
A blog can be as private or as public as you want it to be.
You as the blog owner get to decide precisely what it is you want.
Or if you are a member of a sports team, you and your team mates may want to have a team blog where everyone gets to blog their thoughts and feelings or club notes for everyone to read and get. This is easily done once again with the use of a team password. And lets face it, it saves cutting down more trees to send out a weekly newsletter! So blogging is also good for the environment.
My brothers family has come up with a unique way to blog that suits his family. He lives in Australia and his oldest daughter has taken up a job in Peru. His second daughter now lives and works in Scotland so they are a very International family. Instead of writing heaps of emails, they blog their information to each other and they set-up a suitable family phone conference time via Skype once a month. So, with a blog you have designed to meet your needs, you are never far from home.
A blog is whatever you the blogger make it to be. Enjoy and happy blogging!

How does a person make money from a blog website?
Hi Sandy…good question. What you need to do is to monetize your blog with your choice of product, CPA offer or one of the advertising publishing methods like Google adsense (which is the most common way most do it) but you aren’t limited by any means to just using adsense. But if you do decide to use adsense make sure that you are in full compliance with their TOS otherwise they will just shut down your website.
There are other networks looking for publishers too but they don’t pay as well. My suggestion to you would be to look around at bidvertiser, chitika, Konterra, etc until you find one that you would like to publish for.
Let me know if I can help further.
You might get a sponsor as well. Sometimes companies will give you products to review. Just make sure you have a disclosure on your site.
