Blogging is fun! Or it can be a right royal pain in the -you-know-what. It all depends on your level of interest in the subject you choose to write or video about in your blog. That’s why so many teachers of internet marketing all say to find what you are interested in and write about that.
There are so many reasons for blogging that this advice seems to be best kept for personal type blogs. In the “old days” many people used to keep what they called a journal. This journal was an account of their daily lives as well as everything else that happened to them, including their finances.
Then somewhere in the early 20th century many people took up keeping a diary of their activities. This diary did the same thing as a journal but I guess the book manufacturers decided to bring out a new-line of books for the same purpose and ‘keeping a diary’ became fashionable. In retrospect, this was probably a smart move because a journal used to be a very big book and when people started to move around more, it would have been quite cumbersome. If you can visualise the small space on a sailing ship, for example, and if you have ever actually seen a journal, then you will agree the diary manufacturers did everyone a favour as well as their financial situation.
In the 21st century though, paper diaries have now given way to electronic versions of a journal/diary and now instead of using paper on which to write, this has been replaced with electrons. No paper is used unless someone chooses to print out a page, copy or whatever of their daily activities. Also people have simply become too busy to sit down and physically write a journal or diary entry today. Typing on a keyboard with a mouse is much faster than trying to write in a legible hand.
Remember the ‘old school’ of copperplate writing? My dad used to be so proud of his writing. It was beautiful. He always used a fountain pen and his style was flowing.
